Sport and Adventure. Sport and Adventure Training play a vital role in the physical and mental rehabilitation of our Riflemen. Regimental Funds have been used to subsidise skiing and sailing opportunities for our wounded. Enabling wounded Riflemen, who wish to develop their disabled sporting prowess to the highest level, including competing at the Para Olympics, is another objective of the Capability.
Armed Forces and Veterans Dinghy Sailing
If anyone is interested in taking advantage of this great opportunity to learn to sail, regardless of any disability, please read the pdf below.
Jubilee Sailing Trust
The JST is a registered charity that owns and operates Lord Nelson and Tenacious, the only two tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side-by-side as equals.
Website
The Jubilee Sailing Trust offers voyages in one of its two specially adapted Tall Ships. To date Rifleman Kyle Baker 3 Rifles and Rifleman Carl Anstey 1 Rifles have both been on board and were full of praise for the experience. If anyone is interested please take a look at the link which gives you an idea of what is provided and if you are interested get in touch with the Regimental Casualty Officer rco@the-rifles.co.uk who will organise the administrative details. The Care for Casualties Appeal is able to provide funding so there are no excuses!
Horses Help Heroes
Horses Help Heroes are organising a fund raising challenge next year and the Rifles have been invited to take part. Although the aim is to raise money for the major Military charities, the Rifles would receive a proportion if any of our wounded took part. Details of the event are attached and if anyone is interested in putting themselves forward to selection they should let me know. This sounds like a fantastic if slightly mad adventure but the sort of thing that might appeal!
SKIING IN COLORADO

We are hoping to send a number of injured Riflemen to the ski resort of Breckenridge, Colorado in December to take part in the Hartford Ski Spectacular. This is the largest disabled skiing event in the USA and BLESMA have been sending servicemen there for the past 5 years.
The Rifles have been given corporate sponsorship for the trip and hope to send a group of about 8 and we will have the opportunity to meet US veterans through the Wounded Warrior charity. We intend that the group will contain a mix of Riflemen with different injuries but all should want to have a go at either skiing or snowboarding.
This is a fantastic opportunity and so if you are interested please contact the Regimental Casualty Officer at rco@the-rifles.co.uk.
Fishing on the Test

Lady Plastow (mother of Brigadier James Plastow Late RGJ and currently serving at HQ LAND) has very kindly offered some fishing on her beat on the River Test for recovering Riflemen. The fishing is easily accessable and the services of a ghillie will be provided.
If anyone is interested please contact
