Escape the winter blues and visit IWM Duxford for free!
Starting the 2012 Gowrings Mobility Roadshow programme is our 3-day event at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, home to some of the most iconic aircraft in the world.
This indoor mobility event is taking place at the spectacular museum on 31st January, 1st and 2nd February 2012. Wheelchair users and their carers will be entitled to complementary entry to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, worth £8.70 per couple – which offers a wonderful day out no matter the weather!
IWM Duxford is home to an impressive collection of over two hundred aircraft together with a fine collection of tanks, military vehicles and boats. Duxford contains some of the nation’s best preserved RAF buildings including three original First World War hangars. You could also listen to an air raid in the 1940 Operations Room and get hands on with award-winning interactive exhibitions.
The aim of this programme, now running for its 3rd year, is to inspire people with disabilities to experience attractions and places of interest they may not have otherwise considered. Stopping at high profile venues across the UK this year including RHS Wisley, Paultons Park, Marwell Wildlife and the National Space Centre, the events are expected to attract many visitors.
Janet Seward, Sales and Marketing Director of accessible transport specialist Gowrings Mobility, said: “The aim of the programme is to show people what they can do and take the attitude that you really can ‘go where you want to go’. A free day out at IWM Duxford will hopefully inspire visitors.”
[Louise Wood, Events Manager of IWM Duxford, added: ]
The Gowrings Mobility events team will be in AirSpace’s Conservation Hall with some of their most popular models; they are also running a fantastic VIP visitor prize draw, including chauffeur driven wheelchair accessible transport to and from the Roadshow and lunch at Duxford for two people.
The free entry is available between 10am and 4pm from 31st January – 2nd February 2012. Visitors wishing to take advantage of this offer during the roadshow should contact Gowrings Mobility for an invitation to gain admission. Free parking is available at IMW Duxford.
